Some of our IPEG consultants (see “Our Litigation Experts”[link) have broad experience in providing technical subject matter assistance, or act as a party’s expert witness in IP – mostly patent – litigation. In a typical patent litigation, each party hires one or more “technical experts” to provide opinions on infringement and invalidity, and a “damages expert” to provide opinions relating to the damages in the case.
Patent Litigation Experts serve important functions in patent litigation. Because of their technical background and long-time experience in relevant industries, they are perfectly placed to investigate the technical facts and issues surrounding each individual case. They are often called to provide information for the courts in understanding complex technical issues, and assist in developing an IP case strategy.
Our experts are retained to provide opinions and testimony in the patent or IP case, including technical expertise on claim construction and invalidity arguments.
