Prof. Stanley (Bob) Davis
holds a PhD in colloid science (1967). Bob became Lord Trent Professor of Pharmacy at Nottingham University in 1975. Topics of his research included drug targeting (with emphasis on colloidal carriers), transmucosal delivery, oral and parenteral systems for controlled release and product evaluation through gamma scintigraphy. He became an emeritus professor in 2003. He is the named inventor on numerous patents dealing with drug delivery. He has served on numerousCommittees and Panels, to include those of the British and European Pharmacopoeias, the UK Medicines Commission, and The Science & Engineering ResearchCouncil. Bob received several awards among which the Eurand Career Achievement Award for OutstandingResearch in Oral Drug Delivery. He was awarded a Doctor of Science Degree (Honoris causa) by the University of London, School of Pharmacy, in November 2006.
