Strategic IP Consulting: Services
IP ValuationTo assess the market potential of a company’s core and emerging IPRs and to determine an objective market value for development of licensing/franchising deals, M&A intentions as well as JV negotiations etc., ipeg works closely with experienced valuation companies in Europe and the US.
There are numerous ways to put value on an IP portfolio. Generally accepted methods include:
- Discounted cashflow valuation (relates the value of an asset to the present value of expected future cashflows on that IP asset, e.g. the patent portfolio)
- Relative valuation (estimates the value of an asset by looking at the pricing of comparable assets relative to a common variable like earnings, cashflows, as well as book value or sales).
- Contingent claim valuation (uses option pricing models to measure the value of assets that share option characteristics).
ipeg selects the best valuation method that best fits the particular needs and goals of our client’s business. We use external software providers that deliver valuation tools that ipeg finds to be best value-for-money.
